Recovery Program

A Social Program:

Cross Training Ministries-A Christ Centered Ministry

C.T.M. men experience freedom from chemical dependency as they are involved with positive Christian role models. We believe in learning through experience and recognizing the faults of past thinking. This is particularly true with chemical dependency.

The course is structured so that men experience freedom from chemical dependency in phases and have opportunity to apply sober living skills in a constructive environment. The therapeutic relationship is between the person and the program. The program is made up of all the group’s participants, volunteers and staff. The giving and taking in group and one-on-one takes place in a comfortable and positive setting.

(Social Characteristics)

1. The authority base is in the Group, guided from a Bible centered perspective rather than a therapist.
2. All give and all receive.
3. An alcohol and drug free environment is crucial and maintained at all times.
4. Recovery is viewed as the responsibility of the person.
5. Staff and group reinforce the positive shared decisions made.
6. Staff and group bring awareness to the negative shared decisions made.

Thank you for considering Cross Training as a ministry. We offer you an opportunity for a one year live-in Christian lifestyle training center. This training program assists you in the areas of communications, chemical awareness, and utilizes Bible studies that cause spiritual growth. Your involvement as a recipient would include: Christian teachings, group sessions, work ethics, on the job vocational skills training, community outreach, and one on one discipleship.

It costs Cross Training Ministries $650 for these services along with housing, feeding, and ministering to each man. Each recipient will generate a $32.00 a day income for the ministry as a volunteer or as outside employment will allow. When anything is totally free, some men will not value it. Therefore we have established as a policy that a $50.00 assessment fee for the interview, a ONE TIME non-refundable administration cost of $200, and a $300 orientation/probation fee (first 30 days) for a total of $550 will be needed from each man being considered for entry to the program. We feel that this will cause each new applicant to be serious approaching the program. We only want serious men. We want you to know that we will work with you if you are in need of help to raise the fees.

Cross Training Ministries is able and willing to assist you in addressing and overcoming legal problems. Most courts, probation departments, and parole departments recognize Cross Training Ministries as a recovery program. To be of any help in this area, we will need to know in detail the exact nature of the assistance needed.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FIRST 30 DAYS
(Download PDF of Article)

The program is a chemical-free zone. This includes, but is not limited to: tobacco of any kind, alcohol in any form, illegal or non-prescription drugs, with exceptions made for analgesics of various types and the patch for smoking.

You will find that the first 30 days will free you from outside peer-pressure, giving you time-out to reconstruct your abilities to manage your time properly and to renew your reading and study skills.
We hope that you will be able to reflect in a positive way on your past, becoming aware of it and the hopelessness of trying to change it. That will give strength to the preparation of your future. It is our aim to direct you to a further understanding of God as a Father who has a keen interest in all that you have done and will do.

It is also our aim to teach you how to understand the feelings and problems that hold back your future. You need to plan for a future. That will take careful planning and hard work. Essential to your restoration is repentance of the past and a spiritual renewal, letting Christ Jesus lead and direct through studies and learning to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Remember, no one plans to fail, they just fail to plan. Let God into your heart and He will give you the plan.

Loss of time (re-starts or set-backs) may or may not affect your job or training. Each man and each circumstance will be evaluated on its own merit.

None of the privileges or rules that pertain to your progress is affected by your job status, however, your progress or job status can be affected by your behavior in program or job matters.

All income generated from any of the above activities is the property of the Ministry and is considered to be donations for the support and training expenses of others. After 6 months a $12.00 weekly stipend can be paid to men who are working at projects which generate income as long as they are also meeting assigned work and Bible study requirements.

A LOOK TOWARD PHASE II

In Phase II, you will be asked to take the responsibility of discipling someone else. This means that you will have to see that they are ready for testing and that they have turned in their homework.

Depending on your progress, you may be put in charge of a house, work crew, or be given a role in Kid’s Church. You will have to have your electives established & a commitment made to them.

As house leader, the cleanliness of the house and yard will be your responsibility. You must delegate the necessary tasks to others and take your rightful share of tasks yourself to see that the house and yard are kept clean.

Keeping order and leading group may become part of your duties. If so, you will receive training so that you will be properly prepared to carry out these duties.

Another challenge will be to learn to share your faith with others, if you are a Christian. (If you are not a Christian, this is a point where you might search yourself and see if God is calling you to finally make that commitment that you need to complete your life). We understand that learning to do this will not be a simple task.

I know that working a full-time job and completing your studies will be very hard for most of you, but it is the right thing to do.

If, by this point in your program, you are being given weekend visits with your family, you must write at least a 300-word report, describing the visit and how it made you feel. The report is due no later than the morning of the 5th day after the visit.

g. Recipient will have the four people in place. These are part of the support group you will need once you are back out in the world.

NOTE: Remaining accountable to a group of close Christian friends is vital to your remaining clean and sober. Choose these four individuals carefully. Once chosen place the individual’s name, occupation, length of acquaintance, address, and phone number on a request slip and turn it in.

** Phone calls made to these four individuals do not count toward your weekly phone privilege. The conversation must of course be related to their specific role in your recovery. The calls must be logged.

1. FINANCIAL ADVISOR - An individual who will know your finances intimately and assist you in developing and following through on a financial plan. This person must be contacted on a weekly basis.

2. PASTOR - Each individual will find a Pastor they feel comfortable with. You must maintain a relationship with this Pastor

3. PRAYER PARTNER - You will maintain a close Christian relationship with this individual. They are to be contacted throughout the week. You will pray with this person either over the telephone or in person. Take great care in picking this person, for you need to make prayer a priority in your life. When you need your prayer partner they need to be available for you.

4. FRIEND - This person is not from the group or from your past. This person will not know your background. He will know you only as a Christian not as you were. As the relationship develops you may tell them of your past. You will remain in close contact with this person.

**NOTE - Just as our Lord is full of grace, so can this ministry be. As long as you are making progress toward being a Christian, you may be granted privileges beyond those allowed in your phase. For example, after ninety (90) days you may apply for a pass. If you stay true to the program, God, and yourself, you will be treated accordingly. Remain true your old self and old ways, and you will be treated accordingly, during your brief stay here.
